GENERAL EVENTS


Field Trip Program

Walk through a WWI army trench and stand on the flight deck of the Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi. You will feel like you are part of the action.   Our 35,000 sq. ft. museum memorializes military history in an effort to educate current and future generations of the sacrifices made to preserve our freedom.   We would like to offer a trip to our museum as part of your educational program. Tampa Navy Week

The Armed Forces Military Museum is proud to participate in Navy Week 2010, located in Tampa, FL.  As part of our participation, AFMM will have a display featuring artifacts from the USS FLORIDA.  Some items which may be displayed will be a set of dishes from the wardroom, uniforms, photographs, and possibly a proclamation from the Governor.  The United States Navy is coming ashore to educate residents of Tampa Bay on the missions of the World's finest Maritime Fighting Force.  Events will include, flight demonstrations by the Blue Angels, Navy Parachute team The Leapfrogs, Navy divers, and a homecoming celebration by crew members of the USS FLORIDA. Included in festivities will be guided tour of The Armed Forces Military Museum for the Navy's "Past Present and Future,"  active duty sailors, veterans and Sea Cadets which will take place on Friday, March 19th from 3pm to 7pm.

Fall 2009 Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament

The Armed Forces Military Museum

Come join the party! We are hosting a Fall 2009 Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament to benefit the Educational Program for AFMM.   Space is limited to maximum of 135 players.  Tickets are $75.00 a piece.  This will include a VIP museum tour (doors open at 4pm), a dinner buffet from 5pm-6pm, and one complimentary drink.  The tournament will begin at 6pm sharp! Tee It Up For The Troops Golf Tournament

AUGUST 2009

Saturday, August 1st

United States Coast Guard Display 10am-2pm

Come celebrate the United States Coast Guard's 219th Birthday.  In honor of the birthday, the Sand Key Coast Guard station will display a 25 ft Search and Rescue RBS (Response Boat Small) Vessel.  Additionally, Port Security Unit 307 will have a 25 ft. TPSB (Transportable Port Security Boat) with twin 175 Evinrude engines on display, complete with a mounted 50 caliber machine gun. Don't forget to visit the USCG display case inside.  Both vessels will be on display from 10am- 2pm

AFMM's 1st Birthday Bash

We have been open one year and we want to thank you! Come celebrate with us as we offer special pricing and fun events through out the day. Adult Admission-$5.00, Children 7-12- $3.00. All Virtual Voyager X Motion Simulator rides- $3.00.

"Virtual Voyager X" Launches

West Florida's Only Virtual Experience!

  • This hydraulically controlled virtual reality theater will allow you to experience history in a whole new way! Experience a simulated reconnaissance mission during the Battle of Iwo Jima, a Desert Storm aerial attack, and a host of other simulations including Grand Prix Racing, a Wild African Adventure, and a Stunt  Pilot  Acrobatic aerial performance.
