Field Trip Program
Walk through a WWI army trench and stand on the flight deck of the Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi. You will feel like you are part of the action. Our 35,000 sq. ft. museum memorializes military history in an effort to educate current and future generations of the sacrifices made to preserve our freedom.

Tampa Navy Week
The Armed Forces Military Museum is proud to participate in Navy Week 2010, located in Tampa, FL. As part of our participation, AFMM will have a display featuring artifacts from the USS FLORIDA. Some items which may be displayed will be a set of dishes from the wardroom, uniforms, photographs, and possibly a proclamation from the Governor. The United States Navy is coming ashore to educate residents of Tampa Bay on the missions of the World's finest Maritime Fighting Force. Events will include, flight demonstrations by the Blue Angels, Navy Parachute team The Leapfrogs, Navy divers, and a homecoming celebration by crew members of the USS FLORIDA. Included in festivities will be guided tour of The Armed Forces Military Museum for the Navy's "Past Present and Future," active duty sailors, veterans and Sea Cadets which will take place on Friday, March 19th from 3pm to 7pm.

This special day will help us prepare for Monday, May 31, 2010, Memorial Day, which historically has been set aside as a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. What better way to honor fallen soldiers than to honor living soldiers and veterans, along with their families and their professional caregivers?

10:00 - 10:15 Welcome and overview
10:15 -11:00- "Understanding the Value of Your Military Memorabilia," by Mr. Braxton Bradford, collector and researcher
11:00 - 12:00- "VA Aid and Attendance Benefits" Elder Law attorney Dana Kemper will discuss a little known benefit that can help pay for Home Health Care, Assisted Living, Nursing Home & Other Medical Costs. (1.0 CEU)
12:00 - 1:30- Complimentary Lunch for those who pre-register by MAY 15 with presentation "Everything You Need to Know about Veterans Cemetery and Funeral Benefits" (1.0 CEU) 2:00 - 5:00 - "Peace at Last: Hope and Healing for Veterans and Their Families" by Deborah Grassman, R.N. - ( 3.0 CEU's provided) Join author Deborah Grassman on her journey of discovering the unique experiences of veterans as they near the end of life. You will laugh. You will cry. You will be inspired.

Official Dedication and Memorial Ceremony in honor of Lt. Baldomero Lopez
Come celebrate Lt. Lopez's courageous act of courage and see his Medal of Honor being displayed by his family for this one day celebration. His uniforms and memorabilia will be on permanent display at the Ichon Landing diorama. Ceremonies begin at 1:30 pm. General admission fees apply.
Baldomero Lopez (August 23, 1925 – September 15, 1950) was a first lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor for smothering a hand grenade with his own body during the Inchon Landing on September 15, 1950.
