Unique Military Clothing
The Armed Forces History Museum is in possession of unique military clothing and military gear from WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam and Iraq.
The WWI uniforms consist of US Army uniforms with full length blouses, trousers, shoes and even long underwear. The WWI military clothing also includes a set of USMC greens with the Indian Head patch on the left shoulder. An Imperial German Army uniform is also featured in the museum’s unique WWI diorama. In addition to the uniforms there is a significant amount of military gear in the WWI diorama.
Additional unique and rare pieces of military clothing include a WWI USMC mess dress uniform, a WWI aviator’s jacket in mint condition and WWII uniforms and military gear from the late Col. Leonard Schroeder – the 1st soldier to step on Utah Beach during the Normandy landing in 1944. One of the rarest pieces of military clothing is the service uniform of Saddam Hussein. This is the only known uniform within the USA that belonged to Saddam. Additional military gear from Iraq has been included in the Saddam display.
